  THE Department of Correctional Services is investigating how a smartphone made its way into the prison cell of a man who killed Tshegofatso Pule. This comes after Independent Media broke the story of Pule’s convicted murderer Muzikayise Malephane updating his Facebook status from prison. The posts from prison were met with an outcry by gender activist group Sisters Keeper. In a statement yesterday, Correctional Services spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo said Malephane would be charged for contravening prison rules. Malephane received a 20-year jail term after he admitted to being offered R70 000 to kill the 28-year-old, heavily pregnant Pule last year. “This is a disturbing development as mobile phones are a contraband. It is also a point of interest to us a department to ascertain how the inmate managed to access this mobile phone,” Nxumalo said. Two suspects are arrested for the murder of girl and man in Cape Town

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of seven-year-old Emaan Solomons and a 31-year-old man in Ocean View in Cape Town on Tuesday. News24 reported earlier that the girl was killed after she was caught in gang crossfire. Emaan had been playing outside when she was shot in the chest and hand. "Two men, aged 19 and 27, were arrested following the murder of a seven-year-old girl who was caught in the crossfire between rival gangs in Libra Street, Ocean View," Western Cape police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa said. "Both suspects are expected to appear in the Simon's Town Magistrate's court on Friday 28 February 2020."   A young Malian woman became a phenomenon in a single day by safely giving birth to nine babies at once at a hospital in Morocco on Tuesday. Halima Cisse, 25, from the West African country wrote her name in history as a mother of nonuplets — five girls and four boys — and she and the babies are all "doing well," said a written statement from the Mali Health Ministry. Mali's government flew 25-year-old Halima Cisse, a woman from the northern part of the West African state, to Morocco for better care on March 30. She was initially believed to have been carrying septuplets. Cases of women successfully carrying septuplets to term are rare; nonuplets, even rarer. Moroccan health ministry spokesman Rachid Koudhari said he had no knowledge of such a multiple birth having taken place in one of the country's hospitals.
